It's Much Easier to Apply For Permits Using Screw Piles

We were applying for a building permit recently, and honestly, it felt like they were trying to find any reason to shut us down. Every time we turned around, there was another hoop to jump through. And one of the big ones? “You need a Geotech report for your foundation.”
That could’ve been a major setback—but not for us.

Because we were using a screw pile foundation, we already had what they were asking for. Screw piles come with a Geotech sign-off built right into the process. All we had to do was point that out, and we were good to go. No delays, no extra inspections, no costly surprises. Just smooth sailing.
That’s one of the big advantages of screw pile foundations. You don’t get that with concrete pilings, perma columns, or true columns. For those, you’d need to hire a separate Geotech engineer to evaluate the ground conditions. And that means more time, more money, and more risk.
If you're planning a new building—whether it’s a shop, a barn, or a garage—your foundation is not the place to cut corners.
