When “Building It Yourself” Becomes “Building It Together"

Some folks just have that unstoppable drive. The kind of grit you can’t teach.
We met one of those people not long ago — a gentleman in his 80s who decided he was going to build his own pole barn.
He’d done everything himself his entire life. Built homes, fixed equipment, raised a family, and worked hard every day for decades. And when it came time for his new barn, he figured, “Why not? I’ll do it myself.”
And to his credit — he did.

He set his posts, he raised his beams, and even brought in a relative to help with the heavy lifting. But after a few long days, he realized it might be too much. He told us later he was half-worried his helper was going to have a heart attack before they finished the trusses.
That’s when he and his wife stopped by our office. They weren’t sure if we’d take on a job that was already halfway done — but we were happy to help.
He had used metal roofing, used trusses, and a solid frame started. We came in, craned that roof into place, installed all the knee bracing, tightened the structure, and made sure everything was engineered to stay strong for the long haul.

At first, he thought our price was a little high. “Twenty grand to finish a barn?” he said. “That’s a lot when I’m used to spending five hundred bucks and a weekend.”
But when the job was done — and he came back to the office with his final check — he couldn’t stop smiling.
He told me, “You guys did way more than I expected. I didn’t even know you’d be adding all that extra bracing. It’s solid, it’s done right, and it was worth every penny.”
That’s the kind of story we love. Because sometimes, it’s not about taking over — it’s about stepping in and helping good people finish strong.
If you’ve started a pole barn, shop, or metal roof project, and it’s turned into a little more than you bargained for — we can help.

Whether you just need the roof set, trusses braced, or the entire building finished, our team can step in, secure the structure, and make sure it’s done right, safe, and built to last.
Give us a call to schedule a site visit and project review, or stop by the office — just like this couple did.
We’ll meet you where you’re at, work with what you’ve got, and help you get your project done right.
