Cedar Shake Roof Upgrade

The other day I looked at a project for some folks with an old cabin out in the woods. It’s about 75 years old, and it still has its original cedar shake roof.
Now, here’s the wild part—around 20 years ago, a forest fire came through the area. It burned down nearby buildings, scorched a bunch of forest, and somehow, this little cabin survived. Total fluke. But that cedar roof? It was probably pretty dry back then. Now it’s basically kindling.
They’re doing the smart thing now—they’re looking at putting a proper metal roof on it. Because the reality is, in fire season, embers can travel kilometers through the air. All it takes is one landing on that dry roof, and poof. The whole thing could go up.

A metal roof gives you peace of mind. It’s way more fire-resistant, it’ll last 40+ years, and it doesn’t need constant maintenance like old cedar shakes do.
If you—or someone you know—is still rocking a cedar shake roof, it might be time to make the swap. We can help you get it done right, and give that building a fighting chance if fire season ever comes knocking.
Let us know—we’d be happy to help.
