Tough Lesson on Roof Timing – Why You Should Fix It Now

We just finished a roof replacement in Eagle Bay, and let me tell you—this one should’ve been done about six to eight years ago. The old cedar shakes had really taken a beating, and on the back of the garage, they were in rough shape. So rough, in fact, that they rotted out some of the plywood underneath and even caused a little damage to the trusses. Not ideal.

Luckily, we got everything fixed up with new lumber, and now this place has a fresh start with a solid metal roof. And honestly, it’s a good thing they made the switch.
These buildings are tucked right into the woods, and with BC’s wildfire seasons getting worse every year, fire protection is a big deal.
A metal roof is one of the easiest ways to protect your home, shop, garage, or barn from fire. These homeowners used to have sprinklers on their roof, which is great—until you lose power in a fire and your well pump stops working. With metal roofing, you get built-in fire resistance, plus way more durability than cedar shakes.

So, if you’ve got an old shake roof, now’s the time to swap it out for metal before fire season rolls in. You’ll get a roof that lasts longer, looks great, and helps keep your home safe.
Here’s the plan:

Enjoy a worry-free, fire-resistant roof that lasts for decades.
If your roof is on its last legs, don’t wait until you’ve got rotting plywood underneath. Let’s get it replaced before it causes bigger problems.
