What's the Best Way to Heat a Shop or Garage?

In my opinion, the best way to heat your shop or garage is with in-floor heat.
Here’s how it works: tubing is installed in the concrete slab and filled with a glycol mixture that circulates warm fluid through the floor. You can power it with natural gas, electricity, wood, heat pumps, or even geothermal.

Why do I think it’s the top choice?
1. You’re heating from the bottom up.
Heat rises, so starting with a warm floor makes way more sense than blasting heat down from an overhead heater.
2. The floor becomes a giant heat sink.
Once it’s warm, it holds that heat and keeps your space at a steady, comfortable temperature without big swings.
3. It’s cheaper to run.
Compared to a radiant natural gas overhead heater, natural gas in-floor heat can cost up to 90% less to operate.
If you’re building a shop or garage, seriously consider in-floor heat. You’ll thank yourself every winter.
